What is your career background that makes you so suited to being an Atlas McNeil healthcare specialist?

With over 40 years of extensive experience in administration, I have developed a versatile skill set spanning diverse industries including water manufacturing, financial operations, and healthcare. My expertise lies in providing comprehensive administrative and executive support to both teams and senior management, ensuring smooth and efficient organisational operations.

I possess a strong foundation in administrative support, combined with exceptional organisational skills, enabling me to manage complex schedules, coordinate projects, and facilitate effective communication across departments. My commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and proactive problem-solving has consistently contributed to enhancing team productivity and operational excellence.

Tell us about your role with Atlas McNeil Healthcare? What is your area of expertise?

As a Sales Co-Ordinator, I support the sales team by providing data analytics and reporting to facilitate informed decision-making. I prepare comprehensive quarterly and monthly reports for our customers and suppliers, ensuring accurate and timely delivery. Additionally, I manage the processing of all special pricing requests and collate data essential for tender submissions. I also assist in coordinating the Clinical Care Connections Workshops for Atlas McNeil Healthcare, ensuring smooth planning and execution of these events.

What most do you like about your role and why?

I appreciate the variety and flexibility my role offers throughout the days. I enjoy the opportunity to problem-solve and assist my colleagues or customers in achieving their requests. Additionally, I love working on projects, as well as collating and analysing data to drive informed decisions.

When you started with AMH what most surprised you?

My experience with AMH was quite positive. The company’s small, family-like environment fostered close collaboration and a supportive atmosphere where everyone, from management to staff, was actively involved and willing to help one another. This inclusive culture likely contributed to a strong sense of pride among team members. Despite its smaller size at the time, AMH's significant market share in the Aged Care Sector demonstrated its success and credibility, reflecting the dedication and hard work of both management and staff.

What are some of the challenges the market is facing?

The healthcare market faces numerous challenges, including workforce shortages, rising costs, the need to adapt to an aging population, and the increasing prevalence of chronic diseases. Additionally, ensuring patient safety, navigating regulatory compliance, and addressing health equity issues are also significant challenges.

What are your main priorities for 2025?

My main priorities for the remainder of this year would be to gain a proficient knowledge and experience in Power BI and also the new CRM management system. This will significantly enhance my reporting capabilities and streamline communication with customers.

What do you expect the big industry trends to be of 2025?

The trend toward aging in place is poised to significantly shape the landscape of senior care in 2025. As more elderly individuals prefer to remain in their homes, we can expect a surge in the development of plan-managed care companies that offer tailored assistance directly within private residences. These companies will likely provide a range of services, from medical support and daily living assistance to technology-enabled monitoring solutions.

Another emerging trend we're observing, driven by the current economic climate, is the consolidation of smaller aged care facilities into larger national corporate groups. Many smaller, individual facilities are finding it increasingly difficult to operate independently, leading to a rise in acquisitions by these larger organisations.

What’s the biggest challenge facing the customers in the industry?

One of the biggest challenges facing many industries today is balancing the need to offer competitive pricing to customers while maintaining healthy profit margins. Additionally, ensuring timely delivery of products and services without delays is a persistent concern. Achieving this delicate balance requires effective supply chain management, cost optimisation, and operational efficiency, all while staying responsive to market dynamics and customer expectations. Successfully addressing these challenges can lead to increased customer satisfaction and sustained business growth.

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned over the past 12-18 months?

In a constantly changing environment, the ability to adapt quickly and effectively is essential. Staying flexible, open to new information, and proactive in developing new skills allows you to navigate challenges and seize opportunities as they emerge. Embracing a growth mindset and remaining resilient will help you thrive amidst ongoing change.
